American Beverage Leads Sustainability Efforts in Illinois

In January, American Beverage (AB) chose downstate LaSalle, Illinois as the recipient of a $55,000 investment to improve the city’s curbside recycling infrastructure. This investment was made possible via AB’s Every Bottle Back initiative – a beverage industry-led effort to reduce the industry’s plastic footprint. The LaSalle investment was made in partnership with The Recycling Partnership (TRP) and will provide over 9,300 LaSalle residents free, 96-gallon recycling carts.

The LaSalle investment will ultimately bring nearly 6.5 million new pounds of recyclable materials into the collection stream. Included in these recyclable materials are over 252,000 pounds of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic – the most recyclable plastic in the country and used for the beverage industry’s bottles – and more than 84,000 pounds of aluminum.

The beverage industry has been a long-time leader in driving sustainable solutions and this is its latest effort to invest in a sustainable future.
