International Political Economist and CFIUS Expert Dr. Sarah Bauerle Danzman Joins Resolute

Sarah Bauerle Danzman, Ph.D., a nationally recognized expert in the political economy of international investment and finance, has joined Resolute Strategic Services (RSS) as a Senior Advisor.

From 2019-2020, Dr. Bauerle Danzman, served as a Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) International Affairs Fellow. Supported by this fellowship, she worked in the U.S. Department of State as a Policy Advisor and CFIUS Case Analyst in the Office of Investment Affairs. Dr. Bauerle Danzman is currently a CFR term member.

“Dr. Bauerle Danzman’s experience in the State Department brings a deep layer of insight into the complexity of the department’s decision-making process and policy considerations,” said Greg Goldner, RSS Founder and Managing Partner. “Her addition strongly complements our teams’ national security expertise assisting clients before, during and after the CFIUS review process.”

As an Assistant Professor of International Studies at Indiana University Bloomington, Dr. Bauerle Danzman researches how domestic and multinational firms influence and adapt to investment regulation, how rules governing capital shape global networks of ownership and production, and how governments confront national security concerns related to foreign direct investment.

Regularly quoted in publications such as The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times, Dr. Bauerle Danzman is also a prolific author. Her research has been published in various academic journals such as International Studies Quarterly, Perspectives on Politics, Business and Politics, and the Review of International Political Economy.

Her recent book, Merging Interests: When Domestic Firms Shape FDI Policy, examines how changes in global and local credit conditions affect domestic firms’ policy preferences over regulation of foreign investors, and explores how firms leverage their power resources to influence regulatory structures.
