Cory is the founder and CEO of Gray Space Strategies, Inc., a professional services and strategic advisory firm based in Washington, D.C. Gray Space Strategies specializes in assisting clients in navigating the U.S. government and emerging technology markets, cybersecurity ecosystem, and national security spaces.

Before founding Gray Space Strategies, Cory worked as a managing director at Ankura and as an executive vice president at Resolute Strategic Services.  Prior to entering the private sector, Cory served for over 20 years in the national security community. Today, he is recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts on cybersecurity, public and foreign policy, emerging technologies and their markets, and the pressing need to align economic policy with national security.  He currently serves as a Senior Advisor to the Cyberspace Solarium Commission (CSC 2.0); an Adjunct Senior Fellow with the Technology and National Security Program at the Center for a New American Security; an adjunct professor at Clemson University; and on the Advisory Board at Resolute Public Affairs.

Cory served on active duty in the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 2004 to 2016 and continues to serve in the Army Reserve as a legal advisor to the U.S. Army Cyber Command. Cory has spent most of his military career as a general counsel in the special operations and airborne communities, a prosecutor, and a national security law advisor. His highly decorated service includes multiple combat tours, several leadership roles, and extensive trial and advocacy experience.

Cory is a sought-after speaker and lecturer on cybersecurity, national security, technology policy, and foreign relations. He earned a Juris Doctorate from the West Virginia University College of Law; a Master of Laws, Military Law from The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, VA; and a BA in accounting with a minor in philosophy from Transylvania University. He has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences, expert panels, policy forums, graduate-level national security special lectures, and podcasts. Many of his written works have been published in national and international outlets.
